Have a great idea for a blog, but don't know where to start? Find the help you need to get your blog set up with Blog Start-Up 101!

My new beginner blogging course, Blog Start-Up 101, is sort of like hiring me and my team as your blog coach — without having to pay the price tag you’d pay for one-on-one consulting!

If you’ve been around here for a few months, you might be asking how this course is different from 5 Days to a Successful Blog Launch, our first enhancement mini-course we released this spring?

Well, this comprehensive course includes detailed lessons and video tutorials from me and my project manager (Katie) on the following topics:

  • How to setup your web hosting and domain name.
  • What WordPress is and how to install and navigate it on your website.
  • How to create, edit, and publish your first blog post.
  • Why you need an email newsletter, how to start building your email list, and my top tips for a successful newsletter.
  • What social media you should be using, how to get your blog connected to the different social media platforms, and some of my best practices for social media.
  • Plus, a number of bonus videos covering additional how-to’s to help boost your blogging know-how!

There are video lessons, plus written lessons, plus a printable workbook (if you want to study on the go!), PLUS bonus videos to dive deeper into some of the topics and provide step-by-step tutorials for some of the concepts!

By the way, we had so much fun creating the video tutorials for this course! I had never done screencast videos before so it was a new learning curve for me. It was great to challenge myself (again!) to step outside my comfort zone!

I’m so happy with how everything turned out and I loved getting to give you some of my personal thoughts on my journey toward setting up a successful blog, share lessons I learned in the process, let you know what I wish I would have done differently, and give you some of my best practices for blogging and social media.

I even got to show you a little of the backend of my other blog, MoneySavingMom.com, something that’s never been shared with the public before! 🙂

My goal in producing this course was to give people an incredible bang for their buck. I know when you are just getting started blogging that you don’t have a lot of money to invest in blogging.

So while I could easily charge something like $97 for this course, I priced it at $37 because I want beginners like you to be able to afford it.

Go here to enroll in this course & get started with setting up your blog today!

    Hi Crystal,
Do you have any tips for decreasing the loading time on a blog? I ran mine through a speed checker and received a score of 69/100 which I guess isn’t so good. When I read the suggestions for increasing the speed, I must admit that I didn’t understand a word they said.
    Thanks!

I just tried to load your site and it loaded pretty quickly for me.

Here’s an article with some ideas that aren’t all requiring a lot of techie know how (though many of them area): https://www.ventureharbour.com/improving-site-speed/

You could try a different theme and see if that made a difference, you could also make sure you don’t have any huge images on your site, and you could try uninstalling plugins one by one to see if that makes a big difference, or removing things on your sidebar one by one, too.

However, I personally wouldn’t stress too much about it because your site loaded quickly for me and I don’t think it’s going to hurt your site really badly for you to not have a fantastic score for loading right now. As your site grows, it might eventually be something you’ll want to hire someone for an hour or two to do some techie stuff to fix, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it right now.
